INZU YAMASABA TO OFFER LAND FOR SETTING UP UNCC REGIONAL CENTRE IN EASTERN UGANDA.
This was revealed at a meeting held on 1st Augst 2018 afternoon at UNCC when the Omukuuka II we Inzu Yamasaba Sir Bob SK Mushikoni visited UNCC. “We are ready to provide land where UNCC will set up the likeness of this National Theatre building and we want Mbale to be a regional hub for culture” he said. He also said that Theatre is a medium of communication and that there is a lot of talented young people in Mbale who needs grooming.
The Omukuuka used this opportunity to invite Francis Peter Ojede the Executive Director and his team to the much anticipated Imbalu ceremony scheduled for 11th August 2018 in Mbale where H.E The President of the Republic of Uganda is the expected Chief Guest. Various Cultural leaders are expected to grace this event according to the Secretary General Mr. Geoffrey Wepondi who accompanied Omukkuka. Mr. Wepondi told the Executive Director that that this year’s event is spearheaded by Namisindwa district in Conjunction with Inzu Yamasaba where 6000 boys are expected to be initiated into manhood. Omukuuka was quick to add on that safety of the boys in terms of safe circumcision is emphasized and on that note they ensure that only surgeons who are tested and have certificates are allowed to circumcise the boys.
The Executive Director UNCC thanked the Omukuuka for the land offer and he is looking forward to formalizing this offer through signing of an MOU between the two institutions. He also shared with the Omukuuka the upcoming UNCC Cultural event scheduled for 3rd – 4th November 2018 at the National Theatre and requested the Inzu Yamasaba to send two cultural groups to participate and exhibit the Bamasaba Culture in addition to his attendance. Prior to the UNCC Cultural event, Mr. Ojede said there will be a ceremony to officially launch the Cultural flags and the renovated National Theatre where His Highness the Omukuuka is equally invited
