The 6th UNCC Annual Arts and Culture Festival 2024

The Uganda National Cultural Centre (UNCC) proudly presents the 6th edition of the Annual Arts and Culture Festival, aimed at promoting and celebrating Uganda’s rich cultural heritage and the creative arts. This year’s festival also marks UNCC’s 65th anniversary, making it a special occasion to reflect on the centre’s contribution to the cultural and creative landscape of Uganda.

The festival aims to recognize, promote, and celebrate the diversity and outstanding achievements in Uganda’s key cultural and creative industries, including music, performing arts, film, visual arts, cultural heritage, and innovation. It also fosters unity, mutual respect for different cultures, and social inclusion, with special focus on marginalized and indigenous groups.

THE FAMILY FESTIVAL 2024

The first edition of the Inter-Religious Family Festival, 2024 is inspired by the ideal of One Family under God and affirms that all people, regardless of tribe, religion, and nationality, belong to the one human family, and are endowed by the Creator God with freedom and fundamental rights. The festival is expected to explore best practices in interfaith peacebuilding and highlight the power of deep-rooted African traditional family values to advance freedom and a vision of a twenty-first century African renaissance.

The Family Festival is a collaborative program of civil society and governmental entities including the Global Peace Foundation, Interreligious Council of Uganda, Family Peace Association, Private Sector Foundation Uganda, Ministry of Gender, Labour & Social Development, Parliament of Uganda, Uganda National Promoters Federation,  Uganda Musicians Association, Ministry of Education and Sports, Ministry of ICT and National Guidance, Ministry of Kampala Capital City Authority, Ministry of Public Service, Integrity Uganda, Ministry of Ethics and Integrity, and Global Peace Women. 

In additional to international guests, other participants will include, kings, chiefs, religious leaders, parents, teachers, business entrepreneurs, students and general community to celebrate shared African origins and spiritual heritage, virtues of living for greater good (Ubuntu), and traditional extended family values that have enriched the continent.

The Family Festival is scheduled for 29 June 2024 from 9 AM to 6 PM at Kololo Independence Grounds in Kampala, Capital City of Uganda, the Pearl of Africa, and is expected to attract more than 20,000 participants. The Guest of Honor will be H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, President of the Republic of Uganda.

BAYIMBA INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL 11 – 15 SEPTEMBER 2024

Bayimba is calling on artists to submit applications to perform at the 16th edition of the Bayimba International Festival of the Arts on Lunkulu Island, Uganda, from 11th to 15th September 2024.

The Bayimba Festival presents a multidisciplinary programme of artists from around the world in music, dance, film, fashion, photography, storytelling, theatre and visual arts.

The line-up of confirmed artists will be announced on the 20th of August.

Preference is given to:

  • Artists with unique artistic identity and ready production.
  • Women artists or groups led by women.
  • Young, new and budding  talents.
  • Production content or exhibitions that are to be  presented live.
